VISITING CAMPUS

JOIN THE PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The mission of the Parent’s Association is to serve as a link between parents or guardians of UNF students and the university to:
Unite parents, family members, faculty, and staff as partners in support of the academic and personal success of students
Nurture the relationship between parents, families, students and the university in recognition of the critical role parents and families play in the education of students
Facilitate on-going communication to educate parents and families about university policies and campus resources
As a member of the Parents Association you can actively participate in the life of your Osprey student and interact with and lend support to other parents. You can volunteer for major activities such as planning Family Weekend, participation on Orientation panels, and/or serve as Regional Area Coordinators to host send offs and be a contact for incoming parents. The Parents Association meets on campus twice a year to plan the year’s activities.

Special Projects
A portion of the Parents Association budget is designated annually for projects to benefit all UNF students. Grants are awarded through an application process to departments within the Division of Student Affairs and student organizations in good standing with Club Alliance who are working to enhance and enrich the student experience. The Parents Association funded grants totaling $4,210 for the 2007-08 school year.
Become a Parents Association regional director or officer
Call 904.620.1567 or email parents@unf.edu if you are interested in running for office or if you would like to nominate someone.
Many of you asked about volunteering during Orientation. We need volunteers to assist with events and to take an active role in creating a Parent’s Council with by-laws and specific duties throughout the year. If you are interested, please email me at parents@unf.edu for an application.
Serve on a Parents Association committee
There are several standing committees and ad hoc committees as the need arises.
| Outreach | Recruitment and retention of members by providing support to parents and their students |
|
| Finance | Managing grants that are awarded to university departments and organizations to enhance and enrich the student experience | |
| Events | Coordinating social and educational activities of the association |
To volunteer, contact Jeanne Middleton at 904.620.1567 or via email jmiddlet@unf.edu
