Elections Timeline 

Spring 2019 Election Timeline

Tuesday, January 22nd: Political Party Declaration of Intent

Political Party Declaration of Intent forms are due January 22nd by 5:00PM in the Student Government Rotunda, located in Building 58E/3300. Forms can be found at the rotunda or online under the documentation web page or online.

Wednesday, January 30th: Party Fair

The Party Fair will take place during Market Day in the Student Union Plaza from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Students and candidates are encouraged to attend and meet with the different political parties running in the upcoming election. 

Party Chairs must contact the Elections Commissioner to discuss the set up. 

 

Candidates are permitted to put up their campaign signage. Please review the campus signage map (located in the Candidate Campaign Packet) to ensure you are following the proper policies and procedures.

Tuesday, February 12th: Candidate Declaration of Intent

Candidate Declaration of Intent forms are due February 12th by 5 P.M. in the Student Government Rotunda, located in Building 58E/3300. Forms can be found at the rotunda or online.

Friday, February 15th: Last Day to Finalize Disqualifications

The Elections Commisioner will be contacting those candidates who do not qualify to run in the spring 2018 Elections.

Wednesday, February 20th: Student Candidate Forum

The Candidate Forum will take place during Market Day in the Student Union plaza from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. The Candidate Forum gives students the opportunity to meet with the candidates running and speak about their issues and concerns.

Tuesday, February 26th: Presidential Debate

A Presidential Debate will be held at 6:00 P.M. in the Student Union auditorium. Students are encouraged to attend to hear debate on pressing issues by the Presidential Candidates. Candidates will be contacted beforehand to gain an understanding of the debate format.

Alternate date: Thursday, February 28th at 6:00 P.M.

Tuesday, March 5th: First Day of Elections

Polling booths will be set up from 9:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Library and Student Union plaza. Online voting will be available for 24 hours.

Wednesday, March 6th: Second Day of Elections

Polling booths will be set from 9:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Library and Student Union plaza. Online voting will be available until 6:00 P.M. 

Wednesday, March 6th: Elections Results Release

The Elections Results will be released immediately following their tabulation and confirmation by the Office of Elections. The Release will take place in the Student Union plaza. 

Thursday, March 7th: Candidate Financial Statements

Candidate Financial Statements are due by 5:00 P.M. in the Student Government Rotunda. All expenses must be declared. Refer to the Policies and Procedures or contact the Elections Commissioner if you have any further questions. 

Friday, March 8th: Judicial Complaints and Signage Removal

Any student may file a judicial complaint regarding the election. Judicial complaints must be filed by 5:00 P.M. in the Student Government Rotunda, with the exception of the Elections Commissioner. For any further questions please contact sgaelections@unf.edu

Campaigns are responsible for removing all campaign-related materials by 5:00 P.M.


How to Run in Elections

 

Step 1: 

Go to the Student Government Rotunda (located on the third floor of the Student Union Building 58E/3300) to pick up a Candidate Declaration of Intent Form

 

Step 2: 

Return completed Candidate Declaration of Intent Form to the Student Government Rotunda, 58E/3300.

 

Step 3: 

Fill out a Purple Student Conduct Form and bring it to the SG Director's Office, located in the Student Union Building 58E/3401.
