Under
the Grade Forgiveness Policy of the Faculty Association, undergraduate
students seeking their first baccalaureate degree may improve
their GPA by repeating a course and requesting that the repeated
grade be the one counted in the GPA calculation. Only two such
requests are available to any student during their undergraduate
career. The repeated course must be the same course as taken previously
and must be completed at UNF. To invoke the forgiveness policy,
the student must submit the required form to the Registrar's Office
after completion of the repeated course. Grade forgiveness requests
will not be processed after a student graduates.
A student may repeat courses without using the forgiveness policy.
Both the original and repeated grades will be used by UNF in the
computation of the GPA, but credit for only the last attempt will
apply toward graduation. Originally recorded grades will be used in any "Latin Honors Distinction" caculations.
This policy affects UNF's GPA calculations only. The policy does
not alter the permanent record (all attempts for a given course
and all grades remain on the transcript) and does not affect the
GPA calculations of outside agencies or other institutions who
may use all grades, including repeated courses, in their calculations
of GPA.
Either two grade forgivenesses or one term forgiveness are available
to any student during their undergraduate career.
Please use caution in choosing to request a Grade Forgiveness.
Once a Grade Forgiveness has been processed, it will not be reassigned.
The Veterans Administration will not pay for repeated courses
if the previous grade met academic standards. Students should
direct questions to the Office of Veterans Affairs.
