UNF School of Computing Student Receives Arxan’s Cyber Security Scholarship

Sandhya Turlapaty, a University of North
Florida graduate student in the School of Computing, received a $2,000 Arxan
Cyber Security Scholarship for her knowledge, passion and dedication to
advancements in the cyber security field. She is pursuing a master’s degree in
software engineering.
The nationwide scholarship is awarded in the fall and spring to one student per
semester. To apply, students must submit an essay focused on the topic of
application security – mobile, desktop, embedded or server apps.
“We are pleased with Ms. Turlapaty’s achievement,” said Dr. Sherif Elfayoumy,
director of the School of Computing and FIS Distinguished Professor. “Winning a
nationwide award from a prominent cyber security company demonstrates the
quality of the School of Computing’s students and programs. It’s also an
indication that our efforts in the important area of cyber security are getting
recognized.”
Turlapaty’s essay focused on software
applications security risks in the age of the Internet. It will be featured on
Arxan’s
blog
in the coming weeks.
The Southside student received her bachelor’s degree in information technology
from JNTU College in India.
