The Division of Continuing Education at the University of North Florida is ready to help local businesses improve employee wellness through a new partnership and cooking class.

Continuing Education has partnered with Food For Life, a subsidiary of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a national nonprofit organization that promotes preventive medicine, particularly good nutrition, and supports higher standards in research, to produce the “Food for Life: Employee Wellness” cooking course.

“We are thrilled to partner with Food For Life to offer this unique opportunity to local businesses,” said Tim Giles, UNF Continuing Education director.

Classes will include cooking lessons, shopping advice and the health benefits of a plant-based diet. Cost-saving tips and nutritional empowerment will provide participants budget-friendly tools for wellness planning.

“The challenge is not only to teach people which foods are good for them, but also to show them howto make the foods taste good,” said Susan Levin, PCRM director of nutrition education.

Each class will focus on important nutrition topics as Jacksonville’s Food for Life cooking instructor, Heather Borders, guides students through the preparation of tasty and easy-to-prepare recipes.

There will be an information session 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 10. Attendees will learn more about the interactive cooking course series designed to show employees how to easily create a sustainabledietary lifestyle rich in vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes.

To register for this session, contact the UNF Division of Continuing Education at (904) 620-4200 or visit the registration
