Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded the University of North Florida Police Department a grant to purchase life-saving equipment to be carried in each police patrol car in order to improve the capabilities of University first responders in assisting faculty, staff, students and the community attending campus events.
“The UNF community would like to thank Firehouse Subs for their commitment to local law enforcement. Through the generous contribution of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the men and women of the UNF Police Department are better equipped to administer emergency first aid to both children and adults with the advanced life-saving technology provided,” said UNF Police Chief Frank Mackesy.
The UPD received $16,100 to purchase 12 automated external defibrillators (AEDs), an AED trainer, pads adapter and wall unit, as well as a data cable. The Foundation, which provides funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations, allocates funding in five areas: life-saving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and continued education, support for members of the military, as well as disaster preparedness and disaster relief.
“We’re thrilled to be able to provide this life-saving equipment to the University of North Florida Police Department and help improve campus safety,” said Robin Peters, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation executive director.
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, and through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs has given $12 million to hometown heroes in 42 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $2.4 million in Florida.
