2015 Small Business Week Awards Presented at UNF

The 23nd annual Small Business Week Celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the University of North Florida’s Adam W. Herbert University Center, Building 43, Grand Banquet Hall, Room 1044. This year’s event features Lisa Nicole Bell, CEO of Inspired Life Media Group.

Bell is the founder of Inspired Life Media Group, a Los Angeles-based content development and production firm that works with a diverse cross-section of high profile startups and Fortune 500 brands throughout the U.S. and abroad. Bell has spoken at national and international universities, conferences and events, including TEDx, UCLA, Google and South by Southwest, to name a few. Her past business ventures include startups in technology and content. After launching her first company at 19, she later started a for-profit social enterprise that reached more than 400,000 girls around the world.

Following the keynote presentation, the United States Small Business Administration (U.S. SBA) will present the annual Small Business Week awards, which spotlight outstanding contributions of North Florida business leaders and champions at the district level. The U.S. SBA will also recognize North Florida’s top SBA lenders with awards for significant participation in the 7(a) and 504 Loan programs for fiscal year 2014, including:

• Florida Small Business Advocate of the Year: Mike Field, JP Morgan Chase
• Florida Financial Services Advocate of the Year: David Marovich, 121 Financial Credit Union
• Florida Minority-Owned Business Person of the Year: Printella Bankhead, EBS Security, Inc.
• North Florida Veteran Owned Business of the Year: Jeff Rawls, Synergy Fabrication LLC
• North Florida Woman-Owned Business Person of the Year: Margarita Urbieta Howard, HX5

The registration fee for this event is $35 per person. Corporate tables of eight are available for the luncheon for $350. Since 1976, the Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida has helped more than 35,000 small businesses in an 18-county area. With offices in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Palatka, Crystal River, Yulee, Gainesville, Live Oak and Ocala, the FSBDC at UNF provides assistance through management advice and technical training with little to no-cost to the potential, fledgling and/or well-established small business owners.
