The Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida announces successful local entrepreneur David Hayes as the Linda Carter and Tom H. Slade III Entrepreneur in Residence at the University.
Hayes is the president and managing partner of Serendipity Business Advisors, where he delivers hands-on instruction and guidance to entrepreneurs. He also founded and managed Tempus Software, a leading national provider of health care technology systems.
“The Coggin College appreciates the generosity of Tom and Linda Slade whose strong belief in the power of entrepreneurism has made this important position a reality, said John McAllister, dean of the Coggin College. “David will bring exceptional talents and dedication to Coggin College. This combined with his extraordinary accomplishments will result in a truly unique development opportunity for our students.”
The Slade Entrepreneur in Residence will help ignite the spirit of entrepreneurship both in the Coggin College and across the UNF campus by providing student entrepreneurship assistance, class visits, panel discussions and various other activities. Hayes will also seek to involve the Jacksonville community in his efforts, so students can engage in Community-Based Transformational Learning and get hands-on experience out in the real world.
“The ground has truly shifted underneath us and we have to do a better job of preparing our students to meet new challenges,” said Hayes. “It’s vitally important we help students learn how to be more creative and innovative while providing them with real-life experiences prior to graduation.”
Hayes has taught at the Coggin College as an adjunct professor and has been actively involved with the UNF Students in Free Enterprise organization since 2000. He is also a graduate of the Coggin MBA Program.
