The fall and early winter season also features legendary jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (January 24); country musician Tracy Byrd (October 10); The Warsaw Philharmonic and renowned Ukrainian pianist Valentina Lisitsa (November 2); and the Tony Award winning, musical comedy, The Pajama Game (November 22).
Fans of Shakespeare and The Brothers Grimm will delight when The Aquila Theatre Company performs The Bard’s masterpiece, A Comedy of Errors (February 6), a tale of mistaken identity, assumed personas, hilarious machinations, and whimsical family ties, and The St. Petersburg State Ice Ballet skates to Cinderella (December 11).
For something a little more high flying, The Center has DanceBrazil (March 7), a gravity-defying blend of contemporary dance and Capoeira. Conjured by a creative team of Cirque du Soleil veterans, Birdhouse Factory / Cirque Mechanics (March 7) is a show in which acrobats and early-twentieth-century machines come together.
Finally, rising Latin music stars Tiempo Libre (April 17) will be performing the Grammy-nominated blend of Afro-cuban jazz, as well as join forces with the UNF Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra for a special performance of Rumba Sinfonica.
Throughout this season, the Center will hold special events related to select performances, including a Patriotic Jamboree and voter registration drive ahead of Capitol Steps; a champagne brunch before the Warsaw Philharmonic; and an advanced screening of “Chops,” a documentary featuring Wynton Marsalis and the Douglas Anderson Jazz Ensemble, prior to his show.
