The 15th Annual Small Business Week Celebration will be held at the University Center on the University of North Florida campus Tuesday, May 8, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. This year’s event will feature noted public speaker Rebecca Ryan, founder of Next Generation Consulting.

Ryan’s keen eye for trends and irreverence in presenting them make her one of America’s most in-demand consultants for clients who want to engage the next generation. She was named entrepreneur of the year by the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and is currently writing her new book, “Live First Work Second.”

The Small Business Week Celebration will include a morning seminar titled, “Becoming a Next Generation Company,” followed by a luncheon, the keynote speaker and presentation of the 2007 Small Business Week winners.

The awards recognize the contributions of the First Coast's own small business owners, advocates and lenders. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will present its coveted Small Business Week Awards, spotlighting the outstanding contributions of North Florida business leaders and advocates at the district level. The U.S. SBA will also recognize 10 of Florida's top SBA Lenders with platinum, gold, silver and bronze awards for significant participation in the 7(a) and 504 Loan programs for fiscal year 2006.

Following are the 2007 Small Business Week winners: Financial Services Champion of the Year—Pamela V. Korn, senior vice president, American Enterprise bank of Florida; Women in Business Champion of the Year—Candace Moody, vice president, WorkSource; Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year—Zelda Fraden-Greenberg, president, Fraden’s Produce, Inc.; SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year—Alex Juarez, president, ISLA Smoothies, Inc.
