The University of North Florida’s Child Development Research Center will host its third annual Family Fest on Sunday, Oct. 8, from noon to 4 p.m. at the UNF Nature Trails.
The event will kick off with a light lunch, followed by Andrei Codrescu, nationally known author and speaker from National Public Radio, who will discuss “Language Play and Your Child.” There will also be the opportunity to interact with local children’s authors. Frances and Hugh Keiser, authors of “Preening for Flight” and “Pelican Pete,” as well as Gigi Morales David, author of “Peter and the Silent Siren,” will be available for book signing.
Other fun activities will include canoeing, a scavenger hunt, a presentation by the Museum of Science and History and a poetry presentation by UNF students. There will also be crafts, including a mural booth, nature sculpture booth, seed mosaics and a tissue collage.
Family Fest is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated and will benefit the Child Development Research Center and the UNF Nature Trails. Snacks and Pelican Pete books will be available for purchase.
