UNF to Celebrate Annual Homecoming

The University of North Florida will celebrate its annual homecoming from Feb. 11 – 19 with numerous events, include old favorites like the parade and basketball game and new features such as Mudfest. Here is a listing of the events:

Friday, February 11
Homecoming Kick-off
The UNF Green
5:00 p.m.
Free Admission
The kick-off of Homecoming 2005 will be celebrated with a disc jockey, human bowling, a Velcro wall, inflatable twister, a rock climbing wall and an appearance by UNF’s mascots.

Saturday, February 12
Southern Intramural Field
11:00 a.m.
Free Admission
A new tradition begins with Mudfest, an enormous pit of mud. Organized activities include capture the flag, mud volleyball, Simon says and line dancing. Showers will be provided.

Sunday, February 13
Powder Puff Tournament
Intramural Field
1:00 p.m.
Free admission
The ladies of UNF get rough and tough as they participate in the 2005 Powder Puff Tournament.

Monday, February 14
Powder Puff Finals
Intramural Field

The finals of the Powder Puff Tournament will be held.

Tuesday, February 15

The great pretenders of UNF come out to take part in a competition of showmanship. Not a word will be said as the students perform to songs in tune with the Homecoming theme "Lights, Camera and A Whole Lotta' Action!"

Wednesday, February 16
Emeriti Luncheon

Free admission
Alumni of all ages are invited to celebrate with fellow alumni who are in their retirement years, enjoying lunch, guest speakers and entertainment. Many of UNF’s founding faculty will also be in attendance.

The Green

The movie “The Incredibles” will be shown on The Green. Dinner will be catered by Sticky Fingers. Movie-goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the show.

Thursday, February 17
College of Health’s “All About Health” Fair
College of Health Building
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Free admission
This returning event offers an opportunity to browse a variety of College of Health exhibits and meet with representatives from local health industry employers to discuss industry trends and the job market.

Alumni Recognition Dinner, Dance and Casino Night

$35. Jacket required.
The University of North Florida will honor alum Mark Vitner, director and senior economist for Wachovia. Vitner’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week and numerous other publications. The evening’s activities will include a full course dinner, the crowning of the homecoming king and queen, followed by dancing to the music of the 70s, 80s and 90s, casino games, including “Texas Hold’em” poker and slot machines, as well as desserts and a cash bar.

Tracey Morgan from “Saturday Night Live” and John Heffron from NBC's “Last Comic Standing” will perform.

Homecoming Parade and Tent Party

Crowds will enjoy UNF’s “Lights, Camera and a Whole Lotta Action” homecoming parade. Parade participants will include students, alumni board members and members of the classes of ‘75, ‘85 and ‘95.

Lady Ospreys at 2:00 p.m. and Ospreys at 4:00 p.m.
Free admission
Everyone is invited to cheer on the Ospreys. UNF’s Drumline will perform during halftime.

Homecoming Alumni Reunion Happy Hour

The Alumni Association invites all UNF alumni to meet at Tinseltown’s Seven Bridges Grille&Brewery following the basketball game.
