The University of North Florida, a part of the State University System of Florida, invites applications and nominations for the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.


ospreyThe Provost and Vice President of the University of North Florida, a nationally ranked university, is the chief academic officer of the university. The Provost serves on the university’s leadership team and works with the President, the vice presidents, the deans of the academic programs, and various university councils and committees to carry out the mission of the university. The Provost represents the university to external constituencies in a manner determined by the President. The Provost also represents the academic division to the President’s council and the Board of Trustees. The Provost is responsible for all operations of the university related to academic leadership, curriculum, personnel management for the academic division, and budget planning and fiscal management for the academic division. The Provost supports and works in partnership with the Faculty Association. All academic areas report to the Provost. The Provost reports to the President.

The university offers 55 undergraduate programs with 80 areas of concentration, 26 master's degree programs with 57 areas of concentration. In addition, UNF offers three doctoral programs; two through the Brooks College of Health and one in Education Leadership through the College of Education. We offer a technology-enhanced campus with state-of-the-art facilities to support transformational learning opportunities.

Five colleges offer degree programs in the Arts and SciencesBusinessComputing, Engineering and Construction, Health Professions and Education. In order to strengthen the core competencies of the University and to further the University's aspiration to become a regional institution of national quality, the president designated a handful of programs as Flagship Program of academic note. Those programs are Coastal Biology, International Business, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Music and Transportation and Logistics. All six programs were selected for their academic excellence and scholarly accomplishments of their faculty.

About Jacksonville, Florida

In addition to exciting NCAA Division 1 Osprey home games, fans can check out the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jacksonville Suns (minor league baseball), the Jacksonville Sharks (arena football), the annual Players Golf Tournament and several other annual events.

Home to more than 30 medical facilities, including one of only three Mayo Clinics in the country and one of only 10 proton beam therapy institutes in the nation, and a number of medical business headquarters, Jacksonville is truly America's Health Center.

It is also an artistic city. The Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Jacksonville is a cultural resource of UNF, offering our students opportunities to take classes and display their work in this popular museum. UNF art faculty also curate shows and give community lectures. Jacksonville is also home to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the Cummer Museum of Art, the Museum of Science and History, a Broadway Series and the oldest continuously operating community theater in the country, there is something for everyone to enjoy culturally.
