About thirty-five species are native to eastern Asia and eastern North America.

known as fetterbush. Lyonia lucida is
an evergreen shrub. Pink flowers are small but may be abundant in early spring.

Large shrub to about ten feet tall.
Light: full sun to part shade
Water: requires a wet soil, tolerates periodic flooding
Soil: moist soil is essential, no other special requirements
This native plant is easy to grow in a wet or irrigated site
in northeast Florida.
It is not drought tolerant.
