Welcome Visitors to University of North Florida
With more than 16,000 students taking classes and many scheduled events for the public, things can get pretty busy at UNF, especially on weekdays. Parking regulations are strictly enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, first for safety and efficiency, but also to respect students, faculty and staff who have purchased annual parking permits.
Daily Virtual Permit
As of Wednesday, August 16, 2017, Parking and Transportation Services has shifted from physical permits/passes to virtual permits, where you register your vehicle's license plate to be the virtual permit! With this new program, all campus parking pay stations have been upgraded to be Pay-by-Plate kiosks. This also means, daily passes are No longer sold from the Parking information booths, located at the campus entrance of I-295 (Building 52) and the other at Kernan Boulevard (Building 47). ALL daily virtual permits must be purchased through Pay-by-Plate kiosks.
With this virtual permit system, all vehicles must be parked "nose-in" so our enforcement tag recognition cameras can scan the plates efficiently. A vehicle "backed-in" to a parking space, making the license plate not visible to our enforcement cameras, will receive a parking citation.
In combination with the Virtual Permit and Pay-by-Plate kiosks, another program known as Whoosh has been added to create the most efficient and beneficial parking system for our campus community. This program will give you the convenient opportunity to pay for your virtual parking permit by mobile phone.
To get started:
- Download the free Whoosh phone app on your smart phone or visit www.whooshstore.com
- Create an account
- Enter your license plate number
- Enter the Pay-by-Plate kiosk number of the desired parking location. For reference, click on campus parking map
- Select time
- End with payment confirmation
- Enter your license plate number correctly (FL license plates only use zeroes and NOT the letter Os)
- No need to display a physical daily permit or a receipt; your license plate is your daily virtual permit
