UNF Community Outreach Council
What We Are About
The UNF Community Outreach Council, established by the LeadershipUNF class of 2005, was formed in recognition of the fact that UNF plays a vital role in Jacksonville and the Northeast Florida region in undertaking numerous community service projects. The UNF Community Outreach Council represents a formalized network through which the many community service projects undertaken by faculty, staff and students can be documented while also working in partnership with community leaders to identify additional service opportunities. Council members collaboratively identify priority areas of need for service in the community while working to match up the resources, talent, and expertise of UNF faculty members, staff, and students with community agencies, leaders, and personnel. New projects are undertaken frequently, while existing projects may be enhanced or expanded through the resources of the Council. As established in its Bylaws, the objectives of the UNF Community Outreach Council include:
* Strengthening UNF’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
* Maximizing opportunities for faculty, staff and students to participate in community service projects.
* Increasing minority student, staff, and faculty populations at UNF.
* Creating opportunities for nontraditional and/or underrepresented populations to visit campus for cultural, educational, and athletic events.
* Assisting in the expansion of leadership development in the community and on campus.
What We Do
- Pair Up Community Leaders with UNF Faculty, Staff and Students
The UNF Community Outreach Council pairs together regional and community leaders with leaders on campus.
- Identify Community Needs and Establish Outreach Programs and Related Activities
Through periodic Council meetings projects are planned, endorsed and initiated.
- Promote and Celebrate Community Outreach
By surveying the UNF community regarding existing outreach activities, the UNF Community Outreach Council provides visibility to and documentation of the work being done.
