Parent and Family Orientation
First, we would like to say how proud we are your student has chosen the University of North Florida to further their education! On behalf of the UNF family, we welcome your student and look forward to meeting their unique needs.
Orientation is an exciting and busy time as you assist your student in preparing to be an Osprey. However, Swoopapalooza is not just for students. At UNF, we feel our students' parents and family play a vital role in their college success.
During the orientation program you will learn about UNF and the academic and student programs your student will be involved in. This is a great opportunity for you to see the many programs that enhance student intellectual, social, physical and emotional development. We hope it will be a fun time for you as well.
We have faculty, staff, and student leaders who welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss with you all aspects of your student’s enrollment. Please do not leave the orientation program without having your questions answered!
Many of the programs are for both the parents/ family members and students to attend together. However, there will be some activities that are just for students and some that are just for parents/family. For example, academic advising and course registration is a student-only activity. During the time of the student-only programs we will have a separate Parent and Family Session.
It is MANDATORY that students attend all of the functions of the orientation program, however it is not mandatory the parents/family members attend.
