As we revere
the columns
of a ruined temple,
you must train
yourself to recall
the masons.
Though I have
done some research
you should do
some as well.

Two boys walk
into the forest with
specimen jar.
They leave no stone
unturned but find
no salamanders.
So the millipede walks
into its new lease
fast as it can
except for one leg
sheared in a crack.
This lost leg
is your subject,
on its side,
in the loose
of the jar.
