The MVRC and the Department of Recreation and Wellness are teaming up this fall for a special "Pros vs. Joes" fitness competition! Compete to achieve top PT scores for the service branch of your choice. Participants who reach a branch's benchmark will receive a free t-shirt, and ALL participants will receive an All Pro No Joe dog tag.


Visit the Rec Well booth during Market Day on Sept. 5, Oct. 3 or Nov. 14 to participate -OR- schedule an appointment at the Student Wellness Complex.

Save the date for Welcome Home & Healing, a Vietnam veterans event with Community Hospice Veterans Partnership. This free conference is for Vietnam veterans, their loved ones and all interested in learning tools to provide hope and healing across generations. This first of its kind conference will cover topics ranging from anger to healing to peace when reliving the Vietnam experience for our local veterans. Presentations will include: the coming home experience, a discussion about post-traumatic growth and a panel on services to help. Registration is free, and a complimentary breakfast will be provided. Active duty, veterans and military spouses are invited to attend an informative one-day workshop on franchising. Entrepreneurship Training for Veterans: Franchising will help you decide if a franchise business is right for you, how to finance a franchise, and more. This event is led by professionals from The Entrepreneur's Source and is completely free to attendees through the generosity of Army veteran Robert Jacoby.

Location: Lufrano Intercultural Gallery

Invisible Becoming Visible: an Exhibition of Veterans' Art is the first nationally curated veteran art exhibit of its genre; exploring the healing power of art by veterans with over 60 years of military service spanning part of the Cold War through the Middle East hostilities. Art becomes a catharsis to release the trauma and mental torture of the past, opening venues of healing and enlightenment, while fostering an understanding for their loved ones and society.

Invited artists are from diverse demographics and various services. They have been recognized with valor and meritorious awards including the POW medal, multiple Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars, and numerous service ribbons.

Veterans, military personnel and their family members are invited to participate in a mind-body workshop with the American Red Cross. Learn mind-body skills to help you get through the rest of your semester: breathing, mindfulness techniques, stretching/movement, body awareness/functioning, and guided imagery. Emotional intelligence can also be improved through practicing mind-body techniques and is linked to higher levels of empathy, lower levels of stress and increased life satisfaction. The Military and Veterans Resource Center will host a Veterans Day Tribute on Thursday, Nov. 8 to honor and recognize students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members who have served or are still serving in the military. Major General Douglas Burnett, UNF Board of Trustee and retired Adjutant General of Florida, will be the honored guest speaker. The ceremony will also include a service song medley performed by the UNF Brass Quintet, and UNF Army ROTC cadets will present the colors.

In honor of your hard work, the Military and Veterans Resource Center would like to present graduating active duty military, ROTC, veterans and reservists with a special red, white and blue graduate cord! Cords will be presented to you during a recognition ceremony on Friday, November 30 at 12:00 p.m. in the Talon Room (Bldg. 16, Osprey Commons, 4th Floor). 


Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate your achievement with us, and refreshments will be provided. There is no charge for a cord, but you must R.S.V.P. to reserve one!
