Military and Veterans Orientation


Spring 2013 Orientation 

January 3, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Education Building (57), Room 1100A 






MVRC is holding an orientation specifically designed for incoming active duty military, veterans and dependents. The purpose is to ensure veteran students are informed about resources available so they may sustain success while pursuing degrees. Fall term admits who missed orientation are also invited to attend.


 Orientation Program will include:


 Welcome by the MVRC Director, Ray Wikstrom


 A presentation by the UNF Veterans Affairs Office, addressing:

  • What you need to do to receive certification for benefits.
  • What is the UNF VA certifying official’s role and what is the Veterans Administration Office’s role.
  • How and when to submit changes/drops.
  • Financial aid availability.
  • Withdrawal process if unit is mobilized, recalled to active duty, transfer orders received, etc.

 A presentation by Rich Carey, MVRC Transition Coach on how he may assist you with benefits questions.


 Wellness On & Off Campus  

A team of presenters from the Counseling Center and Disability Resource Center will make sure you know how and who can help when you need it.


 Clubs & Special Events

The Student Veterans of America & the Military Veterans Alumni Club will have a brief overview of their clubs and how you can become involved.



Each veteran student will also receive an orientation bag filled with information that will help in furthering their academic career at the university level.


Following the orientation a  welcome reception will be held in the MVRC . We greatly encourage you to come join us for orientation, meet fellow veterans on campus and learn how we can help you be successful in your academic career.
