Entrepreneurship Training for Veterans

Entrepreneurship Training for Veterans provides instruction in the essentials of successful business operations to veterans who wish to start a business or grow an existing one. From writing a business plan, to identifying funding sources, to avoiding business pit falls, the semi-annual conference assists participants in achieving their goals. In addition to the conference, the program provides follow up feedback through a combination of surveys and follow-up workshops utilizing resources such as: UNF’s Small Business Development Center, faculty expertise in the Coggin College of Business entrepreneurship program, and local business experts who exclusively target federal, state and local contracts such as: 8(a) designated companies and a mentoring partnership with local veteran-owned businesses.

The semi-annual conferences are free to veterans and include lunch. The presentations are presented in a group setting environment, with each presentation lasting 50 minutes each with ten minute breaks rounding out the hour.

Past topics have included: “Develop an Idea” by Ronald Kos, Entrepreneur; “Entrepreneurial Network” by Jackie Perry, Executive Director of Beaver Street Enterprise Center; “Getting Started in Government Contracting” by Don Zavesky of the UNF Small Business Development Center; “Real Deal, an inside look of starting a business” by Andy Harold of A. Harold and Associates and Florida 8(a) Alliance; and “Funding a business” by Natalia Hall of the Small Business Administration (SBA). ETV conferences are generously sponsored by Bob Jacoby.
