UNF: Coggins' gift has lasting benefits for UNF
Jacksonville business leader Luther W. Coggin has a long history of
philanthropy at UNF. In 1997, the Coggin family made a $350,000 gift
to UNF which was used to fund scholarships and a professorship as well
as purchase equipment for the college's new building.
In 2002, the Coggins took advantage of the leverage of the state's
Major Gift Challenge Grant program to reach the $10 million level required
to name a college at UNF. In recognition of a $5 million gift, the University
named the College of Business in their honor.
Mr. Coggin is currently the chairman and CEO of the Coggin Automotive
Group, which he founded in 1968. He has also been active in numerous
civic and community affairs, and has been widely recognized for his
many contributions to the Jacksonville community. He is the recipient
of the 2002 Prime F. Osborn, III Distinguished Business Leader Award
and is currently a member of the UNF Board of Trustees.
