Ybor City, Fla., September 18, 1899. Burgert was the founder and father of the Burgert photography clan. The family lived in Jacksonville in the mid-1880s and moved to Tampa in 1896. During their Jacksonville residency, the family acquired some property near Pablo Beach. This letter is a response to an inquiry by Courtland Buckman as to whether Burgert might be interested in selling the beach property. Burgert responds in the negative: "I really do not care to sell them as I intend to build on one this winter ...That is the most beautiful beach I have ever been at and one of these fine days the people will find out and pay a decent price."
