UNF Through the Years
Historical Images from Archives
The Photographic Collection of University Archives began
with the donation of a single oversized photograph of the UNF Groundbreaking
Ceremony (1971). While the Archives' initial charge was to collect
only print materials, over the years it became apparent from user
requests that campus units did not have a program in place to save
historical university photographs either in their retrospective offices,
or deposited in the Library. In the early 1990's, in order to preserve the University's visual
history, Archives began to actively and systematically
collect - add and organize - historical images. The unit now
holds over ten thousand photographs, slides, negatives, and digital
images. Included are images of faculty, staff, students, and other
UNF-affiliated individuals; university construction, campus buildings
and sites; and university events. Featured
on the pages below are some of the more frequently requested images
and photographs of special interest.
