Library Card Information

All borrowing transactions, requests for library services, and off-campus access to electronic resources require a UNF OspreyCard. The library number is at the bottom right of the card.

Borrowing library materials

Circulation Desk, (904) 620-2615 or libcirc@unf.edu. The central circulation desk supervises the general circulating collections, all fines and replacement charges, and general circulation services. Electronic forms are available for renewing items, placing holds, and requesting information.

Faculty Loan Period

For general circulating items the normal loan period for faculty/A&P is 18 weeks which correlates to an academic term. More restrictive loan periods and privileges may apply for some collections. You must present your UNF OspreyCard ID to borrow books. Overdue fines and replacement charges apply to all borrowers, including faculty. Regular fines are billed only when they accrue to $2.00 (or more) per item (a 7-day fine-waiver grace period). When eligible, renewals are accepted either at the Library's Circulation Desk or by using the online renewal service.

Course Reserves

Access Services Department - (904) 620-2615 - libcirc@unf.edu. Print and electronic (web-accessible page image) course reserves collections of assigned readings and course lecture notes are supported within prevailing copyright and license restrictions. With the Library's assistance when requested, permissions, payment of royalties and fees, and copyright compliance are the responsibility of the requesting faculty member.

Well before each semester begins, the Library requests that faculty turn in a request for required materials to ensure that all materials will be available when the semester starts. To reserve materials, complete a Course Reserve Material Request form. Loan periods are limited to 2 hours, 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days. Overdue fines are $1.00 per hour for hourly checkout and $1.00 per day for daily checkout. All items are automatically removed at the end of each term. The request process must be repeated for each term of intended use. All orders are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Since copyright compliance must be signed by the requesting faculty member, electronic forms are not available for this service.

The UNF Library strictly complies with copyright and license restrictions. General copyright information and fair-use guidelines can be found on the Library's copyright Web page, or by consulting with the department head of a library service which is bound by copyright compliance.
