      <title>New exhibit: Salute to Veterans of the University of North Florida</title>
      <description>The display honors UNF staff, students and faculty military veterans and the military family members of UNF staff. Materials on display include numerous photographs of the veterans in uniform, and military badges and uniforms. The exhibit was created by Kathy Westberry and Linda Burks from UNF Enrollment Services. The display is in the Special Collections Reading Room on the ground floor and will remain until November 30, during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.       <title>Exhibit: Floating Formless</title>
      <description>A multi-dimensional poem entitled &quot;Floating Formless&quot; is available for viewing from November 2-15. This installation is on the library&apos;s adjacent pond and stairway windows, with an accompanying sound installation inside the library&apos;s main elevators. This poem, by Prof. Clark Lunberry, Dept. of English, is part of his on-going &quot;Writing on Water&quot; series. </description>

      <title>New exhibit: UNF Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program</title>
      <description>The exhibit features the UNF Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program. It was created by the Program’s Associate Director Lynn Brown and members of the professional student organization, the UNF Transportation &amp; Logistics Society. The materials on display highlight the faculty’s research and the Program’s extensive involvement in the community, along with awards and photographs showing the activities and achievements of the students in the program.       <title>Exhibit: Highlighting the Career of Sheriff Nathaniel &quot;Nat&quot; Glover</title>

The exhibit features printed materials, awards and honors, photographs and other memorabilia from his tenure as Sheriff of Jacksonville (1995-2003), his extensive service to the local community and from his recent work as an ambassador for higher education in Jacksonville. Unique items include photographs and newspaper clippings relating to his longtime involvement with UNF: master’s in education (M.Ed.) degree (1987); recipient of the UNF Distinguished Alumni Award (1995); College of Education and Human Services Outstanding Alumni Award (1995); and UNF Commencement Speaker (Spring 2000). Glover currently serves as special advisor to President John Delaney.</description>

      <title>Special Event and Fundraiser for the Library hosted by UNF alumna Jennifer R. Jones, owner of R. Roberts Gallery</title>
      <description>Please join us for a special preview celebration of recent works by the artist, Peter Max, on Friday, March 6th, at 6:00 p.m. at the R. Roberts Gallery, 3606 Saint Johns Avenue, in Avondale.  A percentage of art sales that evening will benefit the Thomas G. Carpenter Library at the University of North Florida.  This special event is hosted by UNF alumna Jennifer R. Jones, the owner of R. Roberts Gallery.  Jennifer (Leonard) graduated from UNF in 1998 with a B.A. in Art History, and is a member of the Library Dean’s Leadership Council.  She served as director of the gallery for ten years before becoming its new owner in 2008.  Please note that if you cannot attend the special March 6th event, you are welcome to attend the initial preview party on February 28th or visit the gallery at other times.  Pre-sales of Peter Max art prior to March 6th will also benefit the Thomas G. Carpenter Library if UNF is mentioned. The location is the R. Roberts Gallery, 3606 St. Johns Avenue in Avondale

      <title>A Conversation with Nat Glover - Presentation at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library</title>
      <description>The campus community is invited to a presentation by Nat Glover, Special Advisor to President Delaney, on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 2 p.m., in the Special Collections Reading Room on the Library’s first floor. Mr. Glover is a Jacksonville native, and he will be discussing his early years in Jacksonville, his tenure as Duval County Sheriff from 1995 to 2003, and his present role as an ambassador for higher education on behalf of UNF. Currently, he is working with the Jacksonville Commitment scholarship program to promote higher education and encourage students to remain in school and continue on to college.
