Wildcard and Truncation Rules
Use Only with Keyword Searches

?   plurals and ending variations of words - any number of letters

Example:

        system? (system, systems, systematic, etc.)

*   any number of letters for endings, middle and beginnings of words

Examples:

      encyclop*dia (encyclopedia or encyclopaedia)

      Fa*lk*ner (faulkner, faulkener, falkner, etc.)

      *phobia (agoraphobia, hydrophobia, or any other phobia)

#   use in the middle of a word to replace one letter

Example:

      wom#n (woman or women)
