Examples of Library of Congress Subject Headings and Keywords

Academic libraries use the Library of Congress Classification. Public libraries typically use the Dewey Decimal System.

Hint: Start a very broad search and narrow using the facets on the left.

Articles in Journals, Magazines, etc. -- Remember to log in to the library if you are off campus

  • History Databases - Recommended: Historical Abstracts, America: History & Life, JSTOR, U.S. Congressional Serial Set
  • Article Quick-Search - Academic OneFile searches over 8,000 academic journals in all subject areas, plus newspapers, magazines, podcasts, videos, etc. The ProQuest option searches several databases at one time.
  • General Databases -- includes all subject areas. Recommended: Academic OneFile, Research Library

Primary Sources

Interlibrary Loan

  • You can order books, articles and primary documents through Interlibrary Loan if the UNF Library does not have what you need.
  • Many times you can request an ILL straight from the Article Linker page -- after you have checked to make sure the library does not have the item either in print or electronically.
