Linking to full text articles in library databases is a quick and easy way for you to present information to your students. There are several advantages:
- no copyright issues to worry about
- no visit to the library necessary
- no cost to the students if they read online or print on their printer
- no waiting when someone has the article checked out at course reserves.
- Most databases provide a persisent link to online full text articles.
It is usually found somewhere on the full article description and, depending on the database publisher, can be called a "Bookmark", a "Document URL", or a "Persistent URL".
- Do not use the URL that you see in the Internet address bar. It is not permanent.
- To provide off campus access, add the library's proxy prefix before the PURL.
This automatically prompts log in from off campus and is why there are no copyright issues.

- Most of the more scientific journals will include a DOI to link straight to the article.
- Add the doi to the proxy prefix and off-campus access is possible.
