Linking to Electronic Articles Using PURLs and DOIs
In most cases, copying and pasting links from library databases will not
work. The link changes each time the article is found because the URL is not
persistent or stable. Most databases provide either a PURL (persistent URL)
or a DOI (digital object identifier) for each article. These can be used
to link to the full text. There are other ways to link to articles in Blackboard. See this guide.
- Many databases provide a PURL with each article.
You may link directly to the PURL in Blackboard. This is fine for on campus
use, but students will not be able to access the article from off campus.
- To provide off campus access, add the UNF EZproxy prefix before the PURL.
This forces log in from off campus and is why there are no copyright issues.
https://login.dax.lib.unf.edu/login?url=
- Find the DOI and enter it here. Then copy
the URL and place it after the proxy prefix.
