GENERAL INFORMATION
- The Library is a selective depository for publications of the United
States Government and a full depository for Florida Public Documents. We also collect maps and atlases.
- Federal documents are selected to complement the University curricula. The collection is also open to the general
public.
- The Federal documents collection is organized according to the SuDoc Classification System, created solely
for U.S. Government Documents. In it, the initial call
letters represent the issuing agency, e.g., A represents
the Department of Agriculture.
- Florida public documents are provided by the State Library of Florida
and are shelved adjacent to the United States collection. They are organized by the Florida Documents Classification system which, like the SuDoc system, is based on the issuing agency.
The Map and Atlas Collection contains:
- astronomy maps
- city maps
- Delorme topographic atlases
- environmental maps
- flood hazard maps (local)
- Florida township maps (Sanborn)
- foreign country and city highway maps
- historical maps
- nautical charts
- state and provincial atlases
- state highway maps
- topographic maps - U.S. and foreign
- visual aid charts ( volcanoes, wetlands, U.S. Constitution, etc.)
- world atlases
- world physical maps
- world political maps
MICROFORMAT MATERIALS
Government documents on microfilm and microfiche are
located on the 3rd floor in the Periodicals Section. Reader/printers are available in the Microformat room adjacent to the Periodicals Service Desk. See
