December 2000

The Reference Department launched an aggressive faculty outreach program during the Fall 2000 semester to demonstrate how new technology and research databases have changed the way we do research. Listed below are some of the programs we initiated.

Arriving faculty were welcomed with refreshments and an overview of the Library's services and resources.

The Office of Faculty Enhancement arranged a brownbag forum for faculty and staff. Electronic resources, including full-text journals, were spotlighted.

Jim Alderman and Barbara Tuck began a series of database workshops spotlighting different databases and subjects each week. We plan to continue the workshops during the Spring semester. Let us demonstrate opportunities for you and your students to find information quickly and efficiently.

  • Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at 2:00 p.m -- Academic Universe

Academic Universe is a full text, multidisciplinary database with heavy coverage of law and business. It also covers local, national and international news as current as today and as far back as 20 years.

  • Thursday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. -- business research databases

  • Tuesday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. -- criminal justice databases

Do you have a database or subject area you would like addressed? Call us!

If you and a group of your colleagues would like a private session, call us.
