New Library Catalog and Management System -- June 7

June 7 is the day the library unveils its new online catalog and management system. In addition to a totally new look, the system performs most library technical processes including circulation, acquisitions, cataloging and maintaining serial holdings records. UNF library's online catalog and management system is almost 20 years old and the new technology will speed up many technical services provided by modern libraries.

Searching the new catalog will be similar to WebLUIS, but there are some differences in the way you construct a query. There are handy help screens along the way that will help you get used to the new rules. Several new options will be available. You'll be able to sign in to the system and save records and searches that will be waiting for you the next time you sign in. More about this can be found here.

Librarians from throughout the State University Libraries selected ALEPH 500 after a long and detailed review of different library systems. The University of Florida was the first to implement the system on May 3. UNF will be second and University of West Florida will go live soon after.

Information about the software from Ex Libris USA .

Worldwide libraries that use the Ex Libris product. Some university libraries that already use the ALEPH system are Harvard, Boston College, SUNY Libraries, University of Tennessee and McGill University.
