UNF's Impressive Array of Research Databases Delight Researchers Five new databases added this semester ¡Informe! offers Spanish-speaking library users the same high-quality research environment that is available to English speakers. UNF researchers now have access to full-text articles from the most popular Spanish-language and bilingual periodicals. MathSciNet is a comprehensive database covering the world's mathematical literature of the past 61 years. It provides Web access to the signed reviews and bibliographic data from Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications. The approximately 1700 current serials and journals reviewed in whole or in part are listed in the Abbreviations of Names of Serials which may be viewed in PDF format. Columbia Earthscape contains current research, news, and curriculum models in the field of earth science. The site provides links to full-text books and journal articles, lectures and seminars, conference papers, policy papers, datasets, and video clips. Wiley InterScience is the dynamic online journals service from John Wiley & Sons. The database covers business, finance and management, chemistry, computer science, engineering, life and medical sciences, mathematics and statistics, physics, and psychology. ACM Digital Library provides citations and fulltext access to ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) journals, magazines and conference proceedings. Time coverage varies but goes back as far as 1954 for the Journal of the ACM. Video Cataloging Project Promises Easier Access MEDIA has begun a massive project to re-classify and improve the online records of the 800 videos in its FASTCAT collection. In order to accomplish this, the Library has engaged a private firm to catalog the material. Videos will be sent to the company in batches of 200. Because some videos may be unavailable for as much as 8 weeks, please notify Diane Kazlauskas (dkazlaus@unf.edu, or x2912) as soon as possible about those titles which you plan to use for summer teaching. MEDIA staff can then work out a plan to make them available for you. The project is expected to be completed by the beginning of the Fall semester. |
