Lend-A-Wing Pantry                

Mission


The Pantry is staffed by UNF students for UNF students; dedicated to serving the basic needs of the students at the University of North Florida. Items may include food and hygienic supplies, provided anonymously and at no cost to the student. Through this service we help foster continued academic success and increase retention for students in need.


Pantry Hours

 

Finals Week Hours:

Tue (12/6) 10 AM - 2 PM

Thur (12/8) 10 AM - 4 PM

Fri (12/9) 10 AM - 4 PM


Winter Intercession Hours:

Thur (12/15) 8 AM - 1 PM

Fri (12/16) 12 - 5 PM

Wed (1/4) 10 AM - 3 PM

Thur (1/5) 1 - 6 PM


Spring 2017 Hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM

*If you are not able to visit the Pantry during normal hours of operation you may email lendawing@unf.edu or call the Pantry to set up a time outside the normal business hours.

Volunteer


Are you a UNF Student (enrolled in at least one class) that is interested in volunteering at the Pantry? 

 

Thank you for expressing a sincere interest in all we try to do for the students here at Lend-A-Wing. To volunteer at the Pantry, there are a few steps that our volunteers must take before they can come in to help out. A purple student conduct reporting form must first be picked up from Kayleigh Harrison’s office (58E/3104). Please make sure you note that you are seeking to volunteer at Lend-A-Wing on the form. Once completed, that form must then be taken to Erin Campbell’s office just down the hall in room 3401. After this has been completed, please email your contact information to lawadir@unf.edu. We will then get in contact with you to arrange a time once the paperwork has cleared. We ask that you please be patient with us during this process.

Ozzie's Closet 

Ozzie's Closet

 

Ozzie’s Closet is UNF’s career wardrobe thrift closet for students who do not have the means to purchase new professional attire for career fairs and interviews. Formerly housed in Career Services, Ozzie's Closet has been recently moved to Lend-A-Wing and has been expanded to include casual clothing as well. Come in and shop to your heart's content! We have racks full of quality name-brand clothing up for the taking.

Through this service we help foster continued academic success and increase retention for students in need. Your donation goes directly to the students who need the services the most. It also helps us continue our educational workshops designed to teach students how to build a healthy plate, eat healthy on a budget, and introduces them to fresh grown produce sourced from our very own Ogier Gardens.

  • Beans (black, pinto, chickpea)
  • Pasta and Pasta Sauce
  • Canned chicken/tuna
  • Snacks (pretzels, popcorn, granola bars)
  • Drinks (water, fruit juice, sports drinks)
  • Microwave meals
  • Paper Products (Tissues, Toilet Paper, Paper Towel, etc.)
  • Hygiene Products (Shaving Cream, Toothbrushes, Deodorant, etc.)
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Gently used kitchen utensils (pots, pans, cups, bowls, silverware)

Featured Recipe of the Month

 bean salad


Rainbow Pepper & Bean Salad

 


Ingredients

  • 3 cans of beans of your choice (I used kidney, black and cannellini beans) 
  • 1 can of sweet corn 
  • Red and Yellow bell peppers, chopped 
  • Bunch of Cilantro, chopped 
  • Bunch of Green Onions, chopped 
  • Garlic powder, to taste 
  • Chili Flakes, to taste 
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste 
  • Olive Oil, enough to lightly coat but not drench the salad
Directions 
  1. Drain and rinse the beans and corn in a colander 
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl
  3. Store in an air tight container
Substitutions: Oh the possibilities!
  • Any beans can be used for this recipe, all of which are a cheap but excellent source of protein, fiber and vitamins. Feel free to use red kidney beans, black-eyed peas, black beans, cannellini, garbanzo, or even lentils. 
  • For the peppers, some grocery stores offer a bagged variety of miniature sweet peppers. I have found that these are cheaper than getting two of the bigger ones. 
  • Don’t like olive oil? Not a problem! You can use avocado oil, coconut oil or even grape seed oil.
