Junior/Health Science with Concentration in Community Health

Brooklyn, New York

Why did you come to UNF?

Before deciding on UNF, I looked at other schools in the area but UNF had a very good program; it was competitive to get in, class sizes were small enough to have individual attention, it was a larger university, and nationally, it ranked competitively. UNF also had great reviews from its students.

What is your favorite part of being a student at UNF?

Being able to represent my affiliation with such a remarkable university.

What opportunities have you had a UNF that you might not have had  elsewhere?

I had the opportunity to apply and be selected for a job as a peer educator with the Department of Health Promotion and am proud to be part of a team that has a positive influence on peers and staff.

How have these opportunities shaped your "personal journey" (collegiate and otherwise)?

It's opened many doors for me. It made me realize my passion for helping others and influencing them to be healthier. Being a part of the Department of Health Promotion helped me realize the career path I want to follow.

Do you currently have or plan to participate in any internships?

While I am not sure where I will be interning, I plan on completing my internship during spring of 2014.

Where do you think your UNF education will take you in the future?

I believe UNF laid a strong foundation to further my education and professional goals. I foresee myself working within the local community to improve people's health lifestyle and hopefully begin a graduate program.
