Major Change Request

In an effort to provide better communication between students and advisors and replace a paper process, a Major Change Request system was developed.  The Advisors are able to request a change on-line to a student’s program that will be reviewed and processed by Enrollment Services Records Processing.

Major Change Request 

The Major Change Request screen displays the Primary Curriculum (and Secondary Curriculum, if it exists) for the selected student.  Using a series of drop-down boxes, the Advisor is able to select the changes that the student is requesting whether it is program, major, minor, concentration, or catalog term.  In addition, the Advisor can add a Secondary Curriculum, if desired.

Major Change Request – Admissions Processing 

Enrollment Services Admissions Processing can view a list of pending Major Change Requests that have been referred by Enrollment Services Records Processing. By selecting a student from the list, the processor can view the student’s current curriculum and the specified change.  The Admissions Processor will create an application in Banner and/or the Referral System for further processing.  The Admissions Processor will select the Completed checkbox.  If the Major Change cannot be made, the processor can add comments indicating the reason.  Once a Major Change Request is marked Completed, it will not appear on the pending list.

Process Major Change Request 

Enrollment Services Records Processing can view a list of pending Major Change Requests.  By selecting a student from the list, the processor can view the student’s current curriculum and the specified change.  If the Major Change can be made, then the processor makes the change in Banner and selects the Completed checkbox.  If the Major Change requires action by Admissions, then the processor can select the ‘Refer to Admissions’ checkbox. If the Major Change cannot be made, the processor can add comments indicating the reason.  Once a Major Change Request is marked Completed, it will not appear on the pending list.

View Student’s Major Change Request 

All Major Change Requests for a student can be viewed.  The user is able to see the Primary Curriculum, the requested change, comments, and the status (Completed check box).
