Add Good Health (G1) and Insurance (I1) on General Medical Information (GOAMEDI) form for new international students. In addition, a Need Statement of Good Health (GH) hold is added to the Hold Information (SOAHOLD) form. This nightly process is driven by students meeting all of the following criteria:
Effective July 1, 2008, all new matriculating students must provide proof of vaccination against meningitis and hepatitis B or provide a signed waiver for each declined vaccination. This nightly process selects all students with an Active General Student (SGASTDN) record (after Summer 2008) and adds the Need Immunization Hepatitis B/Meningitis (H1) hold, if it does not already exist. In addition, a Hepatitis B/Meningitis (H1) code is added to the General Medical Information (GOAMEDI) form. The Medical Compliance Office is responsible for providing immunization clearance for students.
Applicants who matriculate at Florida public universities are required to provide proof of immunization against rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) prior to the initial registration. This nightly process selects all students with an Active General Student (SGASTDN) record who do not already have a Medical Code of Immunization (M1, M2, or M3). The process adds the Need Immunization (IM) hold, if it does not already exist. The process adds a Medical Code of Immunization (M1) and a Disability Service code of Needs Immunization (MA) or Born Before January 1, 1957 (MA) to the General Medical Information (GOAMEDI) form. The Medical Compliance Office is responsible for providing immunization clearance for students. Students born after January 1, 1957 do not require additional clearance.
Immunization information may be indicated on an electronic transcript from another institution. This nightly process evaluates the data from the electronic transcript to see if there are any immunizations listed. The immunization records are copied to a UNF table. There is a Banner Self-Service application where a user can view a list of immunizations for a student. The Medical Compliance Office can use this data to satisfy immunization requirements when other documentation is not received.
The daily processing for International Health Insurance executes the appropriate parts of the International Health Insurance system on specific dates in the calendar (shown below). International students (those with have a Visa code of 'F1', 'F2', 'FO', 'J1', 'J2', or 'JO' ) have an I1 GOAMEDI record created upon admission.
Every term, the code on the I1 GOAMEDI records is set to IN (Insurance Needed). Medical compliance will update the records of students who have provided proof of insurance to IS (Insurance Satisfied). About a week later, the IN registration hold is placed on all international students who still have the “Insurance Needed” designation. At that point, students can view the hold online and can accept to receive and be charged for a UNF insurance plan. This automatically lifts the hold and updates the GOAMEDI record to “Insurance Satisfied”. However, the student can opt to provide documentation to Medical Compliance about alternative insurance after which the hold and designation are updated manually by Medical Compliance.
Finally, during registration periods and for the first few weeks of the term, the attributes IAHS (non-athletes) and IAHA (athletes) are added or removed from the student based on the coding on the I1 GOAMEDI record. Presence of one of these attributes will cause registration fee assessment to charge the student for the UNF sponsored insurance plan.
