A generic e-mail account is one that is assigned to a department, and not a person. Instead of having a address such as jsmith @ unf. edu, it would have a department name, such as budgetdept @ unf. edu. It will allow student workers to receive Exchange e-mail, without interferring with their academic and personal Osprey e-mail. It will also allow a department to have a permanent e-mail address that they know will go unchanged from one semester to the next. Generic accounts can only be created in the Windows system, not the Osprey system.
If a generic computer account is something that will benefit your department, please send a request to your college or department's C-Tech.
