I chose to come to UNF from my hometown of Orlando because of the many opportunities available to me here that aren’t offered at other large schools. UNF students have the chance to start something great and to see it through – and I’ve definitely taken advantage of those opportunities since I’ve been here.
I’ve been very active at UNF, as the director of Student Life in Student Government, the vice president of Presidential Envoys, a member of ACCESS 218 Ministry and a member of every single intramural sport. I also attend as many UNF games as I can to show my Osprey pride.
The ultimate way I’ve shown my school spirit is by creating UNF’s Osprey Creed in 2010 and seeing it to fruition. I was so proud to be able to document my passion for this University through the creed and share it with others:
I AM THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA.
I am loyal to the Nest without reservation.
I am selfless in my effort to advance its values.
I am relentless in the pursuit of truth and knowledge carried out in the spirit of intellectual and artistic freedom.
I am one who wears the colors of the Osprey proudly.
I am wearing them on my chest and in my heart, on and off the playing field with confidence and vigor.
I am filled with courage and dare to soar.
I am an Osprey flying far, fast, and hard.
This is what I believe in. When the Osprey Creed was embraced by UNF’s Board of Trustees, I received a standing ovation, which was very humbling.
I really look forward to the day when everyone at UNF feels the same passion for UNF and Osprey Pride that I do. Before I leave the UNF nest, I have a big goal I’d like to accomplish: I want to give my all to amplifying school spirit at UNF by starting a School Spirit Agency in Student Government.
As a UNF student, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many wonderful professors, including Professor Bobbi Dodgett, who has made a huge impact in my major classes, from crisis management to Intro to PR and PR Campaigns. Past UNF President Anne Hopkins has also been amazing, challenging every student in class to become a better and more informed student and sharing so many wonderful experiences with her students that the material is brought to life.
I will take so many great memories with me when I finally fly away from UNF, including the family environment here, the chance to know my professors and the opportunity to build great friendships while learning at the best University for me. I want people to know that this is a University that cares about each student — and we are a family of Ospreys.
