Andy Leverett,
a University of North Florida business management major
and a film studies minor, recently won the 2010 St. Johns Riverkeeper’s third
annual PSA Video Contest in the college-level category.
The winning PSA is titled “Moments in
My Life,” which tells the story of someone growing up on the river and reminds
the viewer to “remember the things you love about the St.
Johns River.”
“The St. Johns River is our greatest
natural resource and the river is what brought people to Jacksonville in the first place,” said
Leverett, a Southside resident. “I feel that we need to protect our river now
for the sake of our future generations.”
He received $500 for his winning public
service announcement video about protecting the St. Johns
River. Blair Richardson, Leverett’s partner in the production
company AB Positive Productions, also contributed to the video. The winners
from the PSA contest were selected from a record 40 high school and college
entries.
