The University
of North Florida’s
Department of English will hold auditions for its April production of “The
Taming of the Shrew,” Shakespeare’s classic comedy about the battle of the
sexes.
Auditions
are open to members of the University and Jacksonville
communities. There are roles for 15 males and eight females, all ages and
races. There are some singing roles and a role for a male actor age 30 to 40,
who can also play the guitar.
Auditions
will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 13, and Thursday, Jan. 14, from 7 p.m. to 9
p.m.; and Saturday, Jan. 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturday there will also
be singing auditions. All auditions are in the Robinson Theater
on the UNF campus. Parking is available behind the UNF Fine Arts Center.
A
short, one- to two-minute prepared monologue is suggested. Vocalists should bring
their own CD accompaniment or sing a cappella.
