University of North Florida head women’s tennis coach Rodrigo Puebla announced today the 2009-10 Osprey schedule.
The
Ospreys will compete in three fall tournaments including the 2009 UNF
Fall Invitational, Oct. 9-11, hosted in conjunction with the UNF men’s
tennis team. Prior to that UNF will make a trip to Charleston, S.C. for
the College of Charleston Fall Invitational (Sept. 18-20). On Oct.
23-26, the Ospreys will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for the ITA Regional
Tournament.
North Florida will begin the spring schedule Jan. 16-18 in Ft. Myers, Fla. at the FGCU Spring Invitational.
The
UNF women’s team will open its home schedule on Jan. 29 against the
University of Texas at El Paso. On Jan. 31, the Ospreys will host Iowa
State (10 a.m.). The UNF men’s team will also be at home on the Jan. 31
for its home opener, playing a doubleheader against Florida A&M (9
a.m.) and Bethune-Cookman (3:30 p.m.).
UNF
will remain at home for a Feb. 6 contest against South Carolina State
before taking to the road for its next two games against South Alabama
(Feb. 12) and Troy (Feb. 14).
The
Ospreys will return home for a Feb. 19 meeting with Florida A&M
followed by a Feb. 21 match against College of Charleston, which
features a doubleheader with the UNF men’s tennis team against CofC.
The
women’s tennis team will be back on the road for their next three
contests, starting with Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 26. On March 4, UNF
will open Atlantic Sun Conference play on the road at Florida Gulf
Coast, followed by an A-Sun match at Stetson on March 6.
On
March 9, North Florida’s women’ will return home to face Eastern
Kentucky on that day. UNF men’s team will also play EKU that day as
well as Appalachian State. The Ospreys will play their conference home
opener on March 12 against Belmont in a doubleheader with the UNF men.
March 13 A-Sun opponent Campbell will enter the UNF Tennis Complex to
face both the women’s and men’s teams.
The
remaining home schedule will feature contests against A-Sun foes USC
Upstate (March 26, doubleheader with men’s team), Campbell (March 27,
doubleheader with men’s team) and an April 7 home match against
crosstown rival Jacksonville University.
The 2010 Atlantic Sun Championship will be April 15-17 and is hosted by Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
