The University of North Florida
men’s and women’s cross country teams are ranked 11th and 15th,
respectively, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association, in the south regional rankings.
With
the Ospreys’ third place finishes in last weekends Atlantic Sun
Conference Championships, the men were able to creep up into the top
15, behind Kennesaw State (11th) and East Tennessee State (12th) to represent the A-Sun in the south region. UNF finished just 16 points behind the Buccaneers, after tying for third with USC-Upstate.
Jacksonville (8th), Kennesaw State (10th) and UNF are the only women A-Sun Conference representatives in the south region. KSU barely sits ahead of the Ospreys after besting them by four points at the Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand, Fla. last Saturday.
This is the first time in UNF cross country history that both teams have been ranked regionally. The 26 year old program will look to make history when they compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 14 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
