Woody Winfree, co-author of the critically acclaimed book “I Am Beautiful: A Celebration of Women” will be visiting the University of North Florida at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. This free event is co-sponsored by The Body Image Task Force, The Women’s Center, Counseling Center, Health Promotions and the College of Health.

Winfree’s I Am Beautiful presentation educates and motivates women of all ages to increase self-esteem and confidence. She encourages women to combat media stereotypes through self-discovery to find their own unique beauty. This powerful interactive presentation gives women the opportunity to explore their full potential.

“Our culture convinces us that women are to be judged first and foremost for their looks, not for their efforts and accomplishments,” said Winfree. “Ironically, the super thin and youthful looks most prized today are possessed by very few. Our goal is to reshape perspective, not body size.”

Winfree has been in the communications and advertising field for more than 20 years and is a former magazine editor. She has presented workshops and seminars at over 45 college campuses as well as women’s retreats, spas, churches and summer camps. Her book and program have been featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Lifetime and in numerous magazines and newspapers. The author’s book will be available at the lecture for purchase and signing.
