Nationally known singer, songwriter and activist Anne Feeney will perform on Tuesday, March 7, in concert at the University of North Florida’s Student Services Auditorium (building 14, room 1700), from noon to 2 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. A $10 donation is suggested for non-UNF students, faculty or staff.
The Pittsburg-based performer says her music is designed to “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” Better known as “The Union Maid,” Feeney’s bottomless song bag draws on Irish, bluegrass, traditional, labor, pop, folk and contemporary material.
She’s as likely to sing a traditional song or an obscure gem by one of her many friends in the singer-songwriter circuit as she is one of her own award-winning songs. Feeney’s anthem “Have You Been to Jail for Justice?” is featured on Peter, Paul and Mary’s “In These Times” CD and also on “Carry It On.”
This concert is sponsored by the UNF College Democrats. For more information, contact Stan Swart at (904) 620-1654.
