Graphic Designer/Writer Discusses Creative Expression
Scott Boylston, a professor of graphic design at Savannah College of Art and Design, will discuss “Broadening the Boundaries of Creative Expression” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, at the University Center on the University of North Florida campus.
Since 1988, he has worked in the design field as the creative director for his own East Coast surf wear company, Seabob Surfwear. He later joined the firm of Garrett Clifford Design as art director.
Boylston has enjoyed acclaim as a fiction writer, with short stories published in several literary journals, including Doubletake, The Nebraska Review and The Missouri Review. His short story manuscript, “Water We Have Lived In,” was a finalist for the Sandstone Prize in 2001 and 2002. He won the New Voice Fiction Award and a Pushcart Prize nomination for his story, “The Side Away from the Candle,” plus he was awarded the Nantucket Writing Award in Fiction for his short story, “Once the Castle is Built.” He has been listed as a teacher and writer in Who’s Who in America since 2001.
