A longtime editor and bureau chief for The Economist magazine will discuss “How Europeans See the United States” on Monday, Oct. 18.
John Andrews, West Coast editor for The Economist, will speak at 7:30 p.m. at the University Center on the University of North Florida campus. His lecture is co-hosted by UNF’s Distinguished Voices Lecture Series and the World Affairs Council’s Global Issues Forum.
The event is free and open to the public.
Andrews will explore European attitudes toward the United States, as well as the larger issue of how Europeans are adapting and reacting to the United States’ role of world superpower.
Andrews has worked for The Economist in Paris, London, Brussels, Hong Kong and Singapore. Prior to joining the magazine in 1982, Andrews worked at The Guardian newspaper in London. He also has worked in the Mideast as a radio correspondent, freelance journalist and lecturer.
UNF and the World Affairs Council are co-hosts for several lectures this year. The World Affairs Council of Jacksonville is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to engaging the community in global issues.
