UNF Sponsors First Research Day

The scope of research at the University of North Florida will be on display Tuesday, Jan. 20, as part of the first annual UNF Research Day. Faculty from all of UNF’s five colleges will display posters and demonstrate research they have undertaken in the past year. Bio-medical research, emergency notification systems and geographic information projects are among the 45 projects that will be on display. The displays and posters will be available for public viewing from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in Rooms 1602-04 of the Robinson Student Center, Building 14. An awards and recognition ceremony is set for 5 p.m.

Noel Freidline Quintet to Aid UNF Programs

Noel Freidline will return to UNF on Jan. 30-31 with his quintet to hold a master class for music students and to perform with the UNF Jazz Ensemble I in a concert to benefit the University’s Steinway Piano Campaign. A UNF alumnus, Freidline will spend Friday, Jan. 30, with the University music students discussing topics such as the business side of the music industry and how to promote your music.

The concert Saturday, Jan. 31, will raise money for instruments for UNF, specifically pianos. With the new Fine Arts Center and expanding music programs, the University needs pianos and seeks to become an All Steinway School. Proceeds from the concert will provide support for the pianos.

The concert is Saturday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lazzara Performance Hall at UNF’s Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $25 and are available from the University Ticket Box Office at (904) 620-2878.
