Occupation:

   UNF President since 2003; concurrently served as chancellor of the State University System in 2008-2009;  previously served two terms as mayor of Jacksonville; also chief assistant state attorney for Ed Austin and general counsel for the City of Jacksonville 


Education:

 B.A. and J.D., University of Florida 


Activities:

 Active in the Nature Conservancy; as mayor, created the Preservation Project, a massive land conservation program giving Jacksonville the distinction of having the largest urban park system in the United States; serves on numerous non-profit and corporate boards  


Personal:

 He and wife Gena have four children.
