  • Why join Upsilon Pi Epsilon?

    UPE members are greatly sought by industry.
    UPE provides a means through which you can interact with some of the top students and faculty in the College outside of class New members receive the ACM Student Portal Package (a one year membership in ACM), which includes the ACM Portal, a print subscription and online access to "Crossroads", full access to the ACM Career Resource Centre, online access to "CACM" with email alert service Student Pointers, and selected free courses in the Professional Development (PD) Centre (http://pd.acm.org/) plus: the Job Board, an exclusive, members only section where you can search and apply for jobs, and post your resume online!

    A full-year electronic subscription to bi-monthly MemberNet and quarterly Student Quick Takes, ACM's member newsletters.
    A full-year (156 issues) subscription to TechNews, ACM's tri-weekly email IT news digest. Access to Ubiquity, ACM's IT opinion magazine and forum, and eLearn, ACM's magazine dedicated to distance education. Discounts on ACM journals, magazines, books, and conferences.

    Eligibility for special scholarships Leadership opportunities are available UPE sponsors a number of events and activities throughout the year, and if that isn't enough, as an ACM member you can take part in their events, too!



  • What are the requirements to get UPE membership?

    Membership is by invitation only. A graduate student must have completed at least 18 hours, in the CSC major, and must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 overall.
    An Undergraduate student must have completed at least 64 hours of course work, in the CSC major and must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 overall.
    UPE international inititiation fee $50 (One time). This fee is payable via PayPal (credit cards/checks) or cash at the initiation ceremony.
    All members receive a membership certificate and UPE keypin. All new student members who are not currently members of the ACM will receive a free one-year student membership to the ACM. Special assessments may be made at any time, upon approval by three-fourths of the active members of the chapter.



  • Where do I find information about UPE Scholarships?

  • What is the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest?

    The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest(ICPC) traces its roots to a competition held at Texas A&M in 1970 hosted by the Alpha Chapter of the UPE Computer Science Honor Society. The idea quickly gained popularity within the United States and Canada as an innovative intiative to challenge the top students in the emerging field of computer science.
